Bed No. 3
Though delicate in design, this bed is remarkably sturdy and stout. The design goal was to have a bed that is both simple in appearance and that gives a strong presence. To have the headboard extend 6″ on either side past the footprint of the rest of the bed frame lends to making a statement in the room without feeling bulky.
Bed is constructed with all mortise and tenon joinery using solid 1.5″ and 2″ wood, yet breaks down simply and easily. The beds pictured are solid walnut.

With its super sleek and simple form, this bed fits well in any design genre and may be the epitome of timelessness.
The frame of the bed is made from solid 2″ thick walnut and is joined together with sturdy hardware that allows the bed to be assembled and disassembled in minutes.
The insanely strong solid steel brackets that hold the headboard create a sleek and minimal floating effect of the headboard.
The headboard is slanted back slightly for those lazy Sunday morning reading sessions.

Our goal with this bed has been, first and foremost, to construct a piece of furniture that will last well over 50 years without issue. Quality of material and construction is our focus. I hope you like the design and find the proportions pleasing, but we strive primarily to surpass your expectations in regard to quality. A key advantage of purchasing from a smaller scale shop is that we can justify losing our minds on details such as grain orientation and joinery reinforcement. Please enjoy for many, many years to come.
This bed is made from 100% solid wood and upholstered with your choice of fabric or leather. The frame is a solid 2 inches thick and is supported by two turned legs at the foot of the bed that are attached through a visible wedged mortise and tenon joint, which adds a subtle but interesting detail to the frame. The frame is mitered and goes together in minutes with just the use of an allen wrench.

Made from all solid 1.5″ and 2″ solid hardwood, this bed is sturdy and guaranteed to last generations.
It is constructed with time-tested mortise and tenon joinery, as well as exposed bridle joints.
The headboard and footboard feature a subtle, but striking bevel that adds another shadow line and dimension to the piece.

This is an upright iteration of our original Dresser No. 4.
This detail-heavy dresser features solid wood (walnut, maple, oak, cherry – whatever you choose). The finger jointed drawers echo the finger jointed frame around the base for a cohesive design that never gets old to look at.

Midcentury Modern Tallboy
The Midcentury Modern Tallboy is a spin off of our first iteration, simply called the Midcentury Modern Dresser. They are both made from all solid wood, including the drawers, and built using several forms of exposed joinery and hand shaping. I would put this piece closer to a form of art than pure function. The exposed dovetail case, exposed through-tenons on the top, the exposed box joints on the drawers, and the extensive shaping of the legs make this a subtle but fascinating piece. One of our main goals at Beauty and Bread Woodshop is to design useful pieces of furniture that are undeniably interesting. I believe we have achieved what we set out to do with this piece.
The shape of the legs mirror those seen in a few of our most popular designs: Bed No. 5 and Side Table No. 2, as well as Bed No. 3 and 3.5
