Description
Our goal with this mid century modern bed has been, first and foremost, to construct a piece of furniture that will last well over 50 years without issue. Quality of material and construction is our focus. I hope you like the design and find the proportions pleasing, but we strive primarily to surpass your expectations in regard to quality. A key advantage of purchasing from a smaller scale shop is that we can justify losing our minds on details such as grain orientation and joinery reinforcement. Please enjoy for many, many years to come.
This bed is made from all solid hardwoods using traditional joinery. Once the mattress is on the bed, the headboard has a floating look, covering the three supports from the headboard to the bed frame that give incredible strength and rigidity. All joints are hand sculpted to blend together.
Any of our dressers and nightstands complement this mid century modern bed well, but the pieces that most closely mirror the unique design are Side Table No. 2 and our Midcentury Modern Dresser.
A minimalist side table addition is available ($250 for one, $400 for two)
WOOD TYPE
Available in any domestic hardwood including Walnut, Maple, White Oak, and Cherry. Figured walnut available as an upgrade.
FINISH
We use a natural (and food-safe) oil/wax finish to protect and highlight the beauty of the wood so that it can be enjoyed in day-to-day activities by all ages without fear. Any spills can easily be wiped off and, over time, a simple application of oil will revitalize the piece as needed based on personal preference. Yes, it’s designed to be beautiful, but it’s also built to be lived in and a part of your family’s life.

ASSEMBLY
This bed is easily assembled in under 5 minutes, using sturdy interlocking hardware to attach the side rails to the headboard and footboard. Slats support the mattress, as well as an adjustable center support leg, leaving no need for a superfluous box spring.

Casey and his team are wonderful communicators and do beautiful craftsmanship. After looking for a new bed for days, I came across Beauty and Bread Woodshop on Etsy and couldn’t be happier I did. Other comparable beds on the market weren’t even made from real wood or were from huge box stores that had trouble with shipping beds safely without dings, etc. With Beauty and Bread, I knew I was getting a unique piece that I would have for a lifetime…and could possibly even pass on through generations. And seeing it in person reaffirmed I was making the right choice. It’s assembled very easily, very sturdy, and sufficiently supports our mattress. The design is functional and the wood is absolutely stunning. It’s easily my favorite piece of furniture we own. I can’t recommend this bed/shop enough!

We scoured many different websites and showrooms looking for our and when we came across Bed Frame No. 5 from Beauty and Bread Woodshop, we loved the unique look of the frame in addition to the quality of the woodwork. Given that the shop is local, we were able to make a trip to the woodshop and were able to meet with the woodworkers who showed us several samples and were really gracious with their time. The quality of their work matched the reviews we had read online. Casey worked with us to select our headboard and gave us multiple different options, including choosing between Eastern and Western Walnut. Ultimately, we chose the Western Walnut and have loved our frame since it has arrived. It has great craftmanship and it serves as a comfortable frame and a feature point of our bedroom. We were so appreciative of the service the group provided to help craft our bed frame and could not recommend their work more highly!

We searched for a bedframe for almost 10 years (seriously) and finally found it. Very unique and showcases as art, but very sturdy and all around solid piece of furniture. The wood is gorgeous and the craftsmanship impeccable. The detail is amazing. Casey was great to work with and accommodated our never ending construction and then delivered to Seattle. The bed frame is a work of art and Casey/Heather were able to accommodate a custom height of 40″ without altering the floating headboard feel. The fitment of each Walnut board is precise, the side boards are perfectly straight and even the slats were snug. Shipping was a breeze and each piece of Walnut was carefully wrapped in blankets and cling film. Worth the wait.
