This midcentury modern dresser is made from all solid wood, including the drawers, and built using several forms of exposed joinery and hand shaping. I would put this piece closer to a form of art than pure function. The exposed dovetail case, exposed through-tenons on the top, the exposed box joints on the drawers, and the extensive shaping of the legs makes this a subtle but fascinating piece. Our goal here at Beauty and Bread Woodshop is to design useful pieces of furniture that are undeniably interesting. I believe we have achieved what we set out to do with this piece.

The shape of the legs mirror those seen in a few of our most popular designs: Bed No. 5 and Side Table No. 2, as well as Bed No. 3 and 3.5

Description

Made to order.

Pictured in maple with highly figured drawer faces (available as an upgrade pending availability – this type of maple is difficult to source), but can be made with any domestic hardwood, such as cherry, walnut, or white oak.

DIMENSIONS

~64″ wide
~34″ tall
~20″ deep

Due to the handmade nature of our furniture, dimensions may vary +/- and inch depending on the available materials.

PRICE

Starting at $6500 for any of the domestic hardwoods.

Figured lumber, particularly the highly figured maple pictured, depends on availability, as it is often difficult to source and is quite a bit more expensive if we do find it.

FINISH

We use a natural (and food-safe) oil/wax finish to protect and highlight the beauty of the wood so that it can be enjoyed in day-to-day activities by all ages without fear. Any spills can easily be wiped off and, over time, a simple application of oil will revitalize the piece as needed based on personal preference.
